Free Crochet Stocking Pattern

I have not posted for a few weeks, since this is to only the time of year for the weather to change but it is also cold season. I have been fighting a cold for the last two weeks, Im glad it has gone away! In the mean time I have been making a few stockings. These are the kind you hang over the fire place and not on the tree.
I used a pattern that I found on the Lion Brand Yarn website. You can get free patterns at this sight but you have to set-up an account. you can do that here. The Lion Brand Yarn pattern I used is called "Handmade Holiday Stocking".

This pattern was easy to understand and it did not take long to make each stocking. The red stockings were made using the original directions and the green stocking was   made using the pattern but I added stitches (so at the beginning when the pattern said to chain 40 I chained 60 and adjusted from there). For each stocking I added a different crocheted trim and put the names on using silver iron-on letters.
The red stockings measures 5-1/2 inches (13 cm) wide and 19 inches (48 cm) from top to end of toe (with cuff folded over).
The green stocking measures 7 inches  (18 cm) wide and 21-1/2 inches (54 cm) from top to end of toe (with cuff folded).

Making theses stockings has put me in the christmas mood, I am now in the process of looking for a christmas tree and in the spirit of christmas I will be looking for things to make friends and family as gifts.
