GSC-Week 7

Week 7 is a special week since it ends the free patterns on the internet and begins with the book "200 Crochet Blocks"  by Jan Eaton. I found this book on Amazon for about $16.00. As stated in my previous post, this book is great because all of the squares are the same size and she gives many different color schemes for the blocks as well as layouts for blankets and throws. You can find the book here.

So here are the week 7 squares:

GS #44- Star of David

This was an easy pattern and would look great in yellow and blue! you can find the pattern here.

GS #45-Magnolia Square

This pattern is from the Coats and Clark website, the pattern is for a blanket but I decided to use the pattern for just one square. Magnolia can be found here.

GS #46-chain Link Square

This was a fun pattern to do, the only problem I had here was that my color choice makes it hard to see the link pattern. The original pattern was done in lighter colors so you can see the chain link pattern. Well I an sorry to say the link to this pattern has been taken down.

GS #47-Granny Log Cabin

I love this square! it reminds me of the quilt squares I have made in the past. This pattern was designed by Dutch Girl Dairy. and yes you can still access this pattern. Here is the link. There is a great tutorial at this site.

These next squares are from the book 200 Crochet Blocks:

GS #48- Corner Granny (#7 in book)

GS #49- Popcorn Flower (#8 in book)

GS #50-Arcadia (#9 in book)

This pattern looks similar to GS # 11 from week 2 but the pattern is some what different.

For the squares in the book I am using my same Style Craft DK yarn but I will be using a size E
(3.50 mm) hook to maintain my 6"(15cm) size squares. I am planning on keeping with the traditional granny look of all of my squares, but may venture out a little and do something a little different.

Have a great week!
Happy crocheting.

  1. You were in the "pink" this week. I love #46, then I scrolled down to #47 and fell in love...not soon after #50 takes the number one position this week. Looking great Lynn. Sandi
