GSC-Week 23

With the summer just around the corner, I will be looking for different projects for the granny squares, since I have time off in the summer I can spend more time working on squares and crochet projects.
The weather here in Northern California should be the beginning of summer 85 degrees F but the weather has been 105 degrees F and the next day it is 70 degrees F. So we are not sure if it is summer or not! I hope by next week the weather will even out.

Here are this weeks squares from "the Granny square book" By Margaret Hubert.

GS #156-Celtic Cross (#47 in the book)

This was an easy square to do but the square was very large.

GS #157- Rose of Sharon (#48 in the book)

A hard to shape square since the center is a circle, instead of doing all the same stitch, there should have been a variation of stitches to even out the sides.

GS #158-Wild Flower (#49 in the book)

Again another square that was hard to keep even.

GS #159-Kaleidoscope (#50 in the book)

The original square was done in a variation of colors but I decided to do yellow, green, and brown which made the square look more like a sunflower.

GS #160-Nautical Wheel (#51 in the book)

If this was done in red, white, and blue this square would live up to its name!

GS #161-Devon Cross (#52 in the book)

This square looks great in solid colors, which shows the pattern of the cross.

GS #162- Christiane Square (#53 in the book)

The blue and yellow of this square really makes it stand out!

I am still working on the baby blanket!

Happy Crocheting!

  1. I'm liking the Wild Flower block this week. Is #162 (blue/yellow) made using a thinner yarn? It does look a bit more delicate. Sandi
