Granny Squares and Stripes #3

It's time to add some more color to the blanket, so this week a row of different color solid granny squares were added to brighten up the cream color borders.  I used the traditional granny square pattern but only did three rows to make these colorful mini squares.
After making about 36 mini granny squares, they were joined together in strips using the slip stitch joining method. I like this method the best since the stitches do not show. Lucy from Attic 24 has a great tutorial showing how to join granny squares, you can find it here
Once the strips were complete, I added them to the blanket using the same slip stitch join that I used to put the squares together.
These mini granny squares added just the right amount of color and do not overwhelm the sunburst granny squares!

Next week there will be more rows of granny stripes added to put a frame around the mini granny squares.
The instructions for the granny squares was added to the blanket pattern which you can access here

Happy Spring!
Happy crocheting!
