Granny Squares and Stripes

I had a lot of fun making coin purses and now that I am done making the amount I need, it is time to work on to something new.  My mother is the new owner of the Multi-stitch Striped Blanket, she was surprised to get it for her birthday. I loved making that blanket and I miss making granny squares (since making granny squares was a part of my life for a year), so I decided to combine the two together for my next project. The Granny square and stripes blanket.

The sunburst granny squares that I have been seeing on Pintrest are so pretty, so I checked around for the pattern and found this pattern by Priscilla Hewitt. The squares in the pattern were a little bigger than I was looking for so I decided to only use the first 4 rows. I grabbed my crochet hook and Stylecraft Special Dk yarn and the squares came to life.
Since these squares do not take a lot of yarn I used some of the yarn that was left over from the last blanket and added few new colors. These are really nice because you can use all sorts of colors and framing then in white or off white really makes the colors stand out!
I started putting the squares together and decided that I need to add something more to this to make it different. Maybe some granny stripes and some traditional granny squares around these 9 squares so they can be the center of the blanket.

It looks like this may be another crochet a long (CAL), since I will be working on this as I go and you can follow along with me if you wish. The pattern will be posted as I go, so you will be able to access it here
The first blanket of Spring
I hope you have a great week!
Happy Crocheting!
