Granny Squares and Stripes #5

Last week cream color granny stripes were added to the blanket. This week a little more color was added with lots of starburst granny squares. I made 40 squares for the next border of the blanket.

Making these squares allowed me to use up scraps of Stylecraft special dk yarn that was left over from previous projects. I really enjoyed mixing different colors of yarn to create color combinations that would make the sunburst squares stand out.

After completing the squares they were put together in strips using the slip stitch joining method. (this is the same method that was used to join together the mini granny squares). The strips of sunburst granny squares were added to the blanket using the same slip stitch joining method.

The blanket looks uneven on the edges after adding the new square but not to worry, the edges will even out with the addition of the next few rows of granny stripes and the final edging.

These new squares added just the right amount of color!

Next week will be the final installment with the final rows of the blanket and the edging. You can access the pattern up to this point here

Have a great week,
Happy Crocheting!
