Life Happens!

This was suppose to be the post where I put the final edging on the granny square and stripe blanket, but that will not be happening this week. I can not believe that I ran out of the cream yarn, I guess that I did not have as much as I thought I did and the blanket uses up more and more yarn as it gets bigger. Since I am using Stylecraft Special dk yarn and can not get it in the U.S. I had to order it from the U.K. I currently order all my Yarn from Deramores, so I placed my order on the weekend. They usually have pretty fast shipping so as soon as the yarn arrives I will be finishing up the blanket and the pattern. You can see the great yarns they have here

So for this week I made a Summer Stripes poncho for my great niece who is turning one in June.

This Poncho is a little different than the traditional poncho done with a three dc group, it was done with V stitches. Using V stitches makes the poncho a little lighter and great for summer.

The edging of was done with ss around the body and the neck which gives the edges a braided look.

Once the edging was done, I added a few crocheted flowers to give it a feminine touch.

I made three flowers, but only added two flowers to the poncho,  so I decided to add the leftover flower  to a small hair clip. The hair clip is covered with ribbon, which made it easier to attach the flower.

You can find the pattern for the poncho and the flower here

I hope you have a great week!
Happy Crocheting!

This pattern is linked on the Hookin on Hump Day link party found at http://www.mooglyblog.com
