Is It A Chair Rug Or A Chair Pad?

The pattern this week came out of the need to replace the chair pads on the chairs in my dining room. My old ones were getting dirty so I put them in the washer, when they came out they were messed up and not usable. So it was time to get some new ones, why not make them?

I remember making crochet rag rugs many years ago by getting cotton fabric, cutting it into strips,  and sewing the strips together to make fabric yarn. This was a lot of work and I knew I did not have the time to make my own fabric yarn. I decided to look around on the internet to see if I could find some already made fabric yarn.

What I found was even better!  A great yarn called Ribbon XL from a company called HOOOKED. This yarn is perfect for making seat covers, crochet rugs, and baskets. The great thing about this yarn is that it is made from recycled cotton and is washable!

Ribbon XL by HOOOKED is from the Netherlands and the only place I could find it in the U.S. was at Nordic Mart, based out of California. They carry 17 different colors of Ribbon XL and have fast shipping.
Granny Square Chair Pad

Below are a few photos of the finished chair pad, The chair pads were done as large granny squares with crochet ties. You can find the written instructions here

I hope you have a great week!
Happy crocheting!
