Scrappy Project #1-Girls Boho Fingerless Gloves

It is my goal this year to try to use up my scrap yarn, so I have been thinking of projects that will use up the scrap yarn I have hidden in different places around my office/crochet room. In my last post "A Yarn Resolution"  I talked about making a scarf with my scrap yarns, I am still plan on making that scarf,  but the scrappy scarf was postponed when my three year old granddaughter asked for a pair of  colorful fingerless gloves. (I can't say no to my grandkids who want something crocheted!)

I grabbed my scraps of Stylecraft Special DK yarn, my crochet tools and set out to make a pair of colorful seamless gloves.

Make sure to weave in ends as you go

join yarn to a different stitch for each row, so you will not have any seams.

 Using  H/8 (5mm) hook, chain 21










Join to beginning chain to form a circle, be careful not to twist

Ch 1, sc in each st around, join, fasten off










Change to the G/6 (4 mm) hook, join yarn to any st, hdc in the same st and in each st around, join, fasten off.

Repeat previous round for 10 more rounds, changing colors with each round. You should have a total of 11 rounds.

After completing 11 rounds it is time to make the hole for the thumb. Join yarn to any st, sc in the same st as join, ch 3

Skip 3 sts, sc in the next st, hdc in the next 16 sts, join to beginning sc, fasten off.

Join yarn to the ch-3 space, 3 hdc in the ch-3 space, hdc in each st around, join to beginning hdc, fasten off.

For the last row before the edging, join yarn to any st, hdc in the same st as join, hdc in each st around, join to beginning hdc, fasten off.

For  hand edging, join yarn to any st, sc in the same st as join, picot, sc in the next 2 sts, * picot, sc in the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join to beginning sc, fasten off

Wrist edging:
join yarn to any ch from beginning chain, sc in each ch around, join to beginning sc.

Ch 1, sc in the same st, picot, sc in the next 2 sts, * picot, sc in the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join to beginning sc, fasten off. 

One done, now make one for the other hand!
