Vintage Fan Baby Blanket

I decided to take a break from scrappy projects to make a baby blanket for the new baby in the family. I found a great blanket pattern on the Internet a few years ago but never knew who to  make the blanket for (A new baby is always a good reason to crochet a blanket).

The pattern is called the Vintage Fan Ripple Pattern  and the instructions with a tutorial are found on a blog called The Creative Being. There is also another great free pattern for the Groovy-Ghan blanket which I hope to make before the end of the year.

I downloaded the pattern and tutorial, grabbed my 4.0 mm crochet hook, and 7 skeins of Stylecraft Special dk yarn in the following colors:
1065 Meadow
1241 Fondant
1005 Cream
1188 Lavender
1084 Magenta
1083 pomegranate
1029 lemon

Here are my first 8 rows:

I plan on following the instructions and doing 3 rows of each color, this should make a 50"x 50" (1.40m x 1.40m) baby blanket!

Once I am finished I will see if the blanket will need an edging, but so far it looks like it could do without one!

I am hoping to finish the blanket before March 30th, so it can go to the new baby. (I will let you know if I make the deadline and will post pictures of the finished product)

Grab your yarn and crochet hook and join me in stitching a Vintage Fan Ripple blanket!

Have a great week,
Da
