Hang Your Granny Squares

These are the patterns used in the hang your granny project, the particulars of each granny square is listed with each square.

Stitch Guide: 
ch(s) - chain(s), sc - single crochet, dc-double crochet, hdc-half double crochet, st(s)-stitch(es), rnd(s)-round(s)
Special Stitches: 
Beginning popcorn stitch- ch 3, (counts as a dc), make 3 dc in the same stitch, drop the loop from the hook and insert hook from the front to the back through the top of the ch 3, then in the dropped loop, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook.
Popcorn stitch- make 4 dc in the stitch indicated, drop the loop from the hook and insert from the front to the back through the top of the first dc, then in the dropped loop, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook.
Puff stitch- *yarn over, insert hook into stitch indicated and pull up a loop; repeat from * two more times, yarn over and pull through all 7 loops on the hook, ch 1 to close the stitch.

This pattern is written in U.S. terms

Square #1- Flower Center Granny Square
This square was fashioned after the flower coin purse on this blog.
Difficulty:  Intermediate
Size: 6 inches (15.24 cm) by 6 inches (15.24 cm)
Yarn: Stylecraft 100% Cotton DK (184 meters/201 yrds/100g per skein): Colors used colors used #3660 white , #3662 sunflower, #3668 hot pink, #3667 sky blue, #3676 lavender and #3663 soft lime
Materials: US Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook, yarn Needle

Notes:
The ch-1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a st.
Instructions:
Make a magic circle
Round 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in the circle, join to first sc. -8 sc
Round 2: Puff st in the next st and in each st around, join to the top of the first puff st, -8 puff stitches
Round 3: Ch 1, * sc in puff st, sc in the space in between puff sts; repeat from * around, join to first sc and fasten off . -16 sc
Round 4: Join new yarn to any sc from rnd 3, beginning popcorn st in same st as join, ch 1, * popcorn st in the next st, ch 1; repeat from * around, join to the top of beginning popcorn st and fasten off . -16 popcorn stitches
Round 5- Join yarn in any space between popcorn clusters, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same space (corner made) * 3 hdc in the next sp, 3 sc in the next sp, 3 hdc in the next sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the next space, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off.
Round 6- Join new yarn to any ch 2 corner space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, * ch 1, 3 dc, in the spaces between clusters to the corner, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3, finish off- 4-3 dc,ch 2,3 dc groupings and 16-3 dc groups.
Round 7-Join new yarn to any ch 2 corner space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, * ch 1, 3 dc, in  each of the ch 1 sps across, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beginning  ch 3, finish off- 4-3 dc,ch 2,3 dc groupings and 20-3 dc groups.
Round 8- Repeat round 7- finish off, weave in ends- 4-3 dc,ch 2,3 dc groupings and 24-3 dc groups.

Square #2- Traditional Granny Square
This is a pattern that has been around for years, I do not claim this pattern as my own, it is written down for your convince.
Difficulty: Easy
Size: 7 inches (17.78 cm) by 7 inches (17.78 cm)
Yarn: Stylecraft 100% Cotton DK (184 meters/201 yrds/100g per skein): colors used: #3660 white, #3662 sunflower, #3663 soft lime, and #3676 lavender
Materials: US Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook,Yarn Needle

Notes:
The ch-3 at the beginning of each row, counts as a st.
Instructions:
Make a magic circle
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, * 3 dc, ch 1, repeat from * two more times,  join to beginning ch 3, finish off- - 4- 3 dc groups and 4-ch 1spaces
Round 2: Join new yarn to any ch 1 space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, (corner made), * ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the next space, repeat from * two more times, join to beginning ch 3, finish off- 4-3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc groupings
Round 3: Join new yarn to any ch 2 corner space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, * ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beginning  ch 3, finish off- 4-3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc groupings and 4-3 dc groups.
Round 4: Join new yarn to any ch 2 corner space, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, * ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sps, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beginning  ch 3, finish off- 4-3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc groupings and 8-3 dc groups.
Repeat round 4 until the square is the desired size, finish off, weave in ends. * rows were done to make the square 7 inches (17.78 cm) by 7 inches (17.78 cm).

Square #3-Pink Sun Granny Square

Difficulty: Intermediate
Size: 5 ½ inches (13.97 cm) by 5 ½ inches (13.97 cm) 
Yarn: Stylecraft 100% Cotton DK (184 meters/201 yrds/100g per skein): colors used: #3666 shell pink, #3662 sunflower, #3668 hot pink, #3667 sky blue, #3676 lavender and #3663 soft lime
Materials: US Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook,Yarn Needle

Notes:
The ch-2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a st.
Instructions:
Make a magic circle
Round 1: Ch 2, 16 hdc in the circle, join to first hdc, -16 hdc
Round 2: join yarn to any hdc, ch 3 (counts as a stitch), dc in next st, * ch 2, 1 dc in teach of the next 2 sts, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off.- 16 dc and 8 ch 2 spaces
Round 3: Join new yarn to any ch 2 space, ch 2, puff st, ch 1, puff st, ch1, puff st in the same sp (corner made), * ch 2, puff st, ch 1, puff st in the next ch 2 sp, ch 2, puff st, ch 1, puff st, ch1, puff st in the next ch 2 sp, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 2, fasten off.- 20 puff stitches,  8-ch 2 spaces, and 12-ch 1 spaces
Round 4: Join new yarn to the first ch1 sp of the 3 puff st corner group, ch 3, 2 dc, in the same sp, ch 2, 3 dc the next ch1 sp,  * 3 dc in each of the next ch 1 and ch 2 sps, (to the corner), 3 dc in the ch 1 sp of the 3 puff st corner group, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch1 sp, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off.- 20-3 dc groups and 4- ch 2 spaces.
Round 5- join yarn to any ch 2 corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, * 3 dc in the space between each 3 dc group to the next ch 2 corner sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3, finish off.
Round 6- Repeat round 5, finish off and weave in ends.

*Make as many flower granny squares and pink sun granny squares as you like, but do not reproduce or sell these patterns. Please provide a link to the pattern or my blog when using these patterns on the internet* This does not apply to the traditional granny square*
