Colorful Coin Purse


                                                         


Size: 4 inches (10 cm) by 3-1/2 inches (9cm)
Yarn: Classique Dk Cotton Yarn by Stylecraft (check here for colors used)
Hook Size: G (4mm) and D (3.25 mm)
Extras: Button for closure, embroidery needle 

Stitches used:
Chain
Puff stitch- *yo, insert hook into stitch indicated and pull up a loop,* repeat from * to* two more times, yo and pull through all 7 loops on the hook, ch1 to close the stitch
Sc Decrease (dec)- draw up a loop in the next st,(two times) 3 loops on the hook, yarn over draw through all three loops on the hook, decrease made
Single crochet (sc)

Notes about pattern:
This pattern is written in U.S. terms

Coin Purse Base: (make one)
Using a G (4mm) hook ch 19
Row 1: sc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each ch across, ch 1 turn, (17 sts)
Row 2-41: sc in each st across using the waistcoat stitch.
Row 42: dec, waistcoat sc in the next 13 sts, dec (15 sts)
Row 43: dec, waistcoat sc in the next 11 sts, dec (13 sts)
Row 44: dec,waistcoat sc in the next  9  sts, dec (11 sts)
Row 45: dec, waistcoat sc in the next  7 sts, dec (9 sts)
Row 46: dec, waistcoat sc in the next   5 sts, dec (7 sts)
Row 47: dec, waistcoat sc in the next  3 sts, dec (5 sts)
Row 48: dec, waistcoat sc in the next st, dec (3 sts)
Row 49: dec, (1st) end off, weave in ends

Stitch together purse: bring the bottom or beginning row up to row 33, using the same color yarn sew sides together, turn to the right side.

Top or Flap Edging:
Join yarn on the top or flap (side with the decreases) starting with row 33 where the bottom was folded up to, crochet 15 sc evenly along the side of decrease rows to the point, sc, ch 6, sc in the point, 15 sc down the other side of the decreased side, end off, weave in ends

Flower: (make 1-2)
Make a magic circle
Using a D (3.25mm) hook 
Rd 1: ch 1, 9 sc in the circle, join, end off (10 sts)
Rd 2: join yarn in any sc stitch, Puff st in the joining st, *ss in the next st, puff st in the next st, * repeat from * to * around (5 puff sts, 5 ss) join, end off, weave in ends


The Final Touches: 
Add some stitches around the top/flap and sew on the button and the flowers.
