Flowery Lanyard

Yarn:
Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK yarn (3.5oz/ 201 yds/100g per skein): 1 skein of  #3676 tropical jade and scraps of yarn to make flowers.

Materials:
US Size E (3.50 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors

Difficulty:
Easy

Size:
¾” (19mm) wide X 36”  (914mm)long

Gauge:
18 sc and 21 rows = 4

Stitch Guide:
ch(s) – chain(s), sc – single crochet, st(s) – stitch(es), RS – right side,  ss -  slip stitch,

Special Stitches:
Shallow single crochet (ssc)- the shallow single crochet is done by inserting the hook into the base of the stitch below the 3 horizontal loops, and between the 2 vertical threads (see tutorial here)

Notes:
Beginning ch 1 counts as stitch
Beginning ch 4 counts as stitch

Instructions:

Lanyard:
Ch 156
Row 1 (RS): Sc in the 2nd chain from hook and in each chain to the end. Turn.  – 155 sc
Row 2: Ch 1, ssc in each stitch across. Turn. – 155 ssc

Repeat row 2 two more times until the lanyard is ¾” wide and fasten off. -155 ssc

Flowers: (make 10-15 to embellish the lanyard)
Make a magic ring.
Round 1: ch 1, 9 sc in the ring, join to the beginning ch -1. – 10 sc
Round 2: ch 4, 3 dc in the same st, sc in the next st, * 4 dc in the next st, sc in the next st; Repeat from * around, join to 3rd ch of beginning ch-3 and fasten off – 20 dc + 5 sc

Finishing instructions:
Fold the lanyard in half, attach one end of the lanyard to the other end about 1 ½ inches above the end, sew in place. Slip lanyard clip over the end, fold over enclosing the lanyard clip and sew into place.

Sew flowers in place.

  3. This is a great pattern! I love it! I have so many uses for these lanyarnds. I actually just ordered a bunch of the clips to make my own. I was going to use fabric for all of them, but now I think I'll have to crochet some. :-) Thank you for the inspiration and pattern!
