Game Day Beanie


Yarn
Worsted weight cotton yarn:  Woman’s Beanie- 34 yds (A), 4 yds (B), 41 yds (C), 9 yds (D)
Men’s Beanie- 36 yds (A), 5 (B), 42 yds (C), 10 yds (D)
(yarn measurements are not approximate, they are an estimate based on how I crochet)

Materials
US Size J/10 (6.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, team patch 1 3/4" X 3",  needle and thread to sew on patch.

Difficulty
Beginner

Size
Women- to fit 22” circumference
Men- to fit 24” circumference

Gauge
13 hdc and 11 rows = 4” 

Stitch Guide
ch(s) - chain(s), hdc - half double crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitch(es), RS - right side,

Special Stitches
Reverse Sc (Crab stitch)-insert hook in the next stitch to the right, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook. See tutorial in the multi-stitch striped blanket post here

Notes
The ch-2 and ch-3 at the beginning of each row counts as a st.

Women’s Beanie
Instructions:
With A, make magic ring.
Round 1 (RS): Ch 2, 9 hdc in the ring, join to beginning ch-2. — 10 hdc
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in the next st and in each st around, join to beginning ch-2. — 20 hdc
Round 3: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st; repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2. — 30 hdc
Round 4: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 2 st; repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2. — 40 hdc
Round 5: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 3 st; repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2. — 50 hdc
Round 6-8: Ch 3, dc in each st around, join to beginning ch-3. — 50 dc
Round 9: Join yarn B to any dc, ch 3,dc in each st around, join to beginning ch-3, fasten off B. — 50 dc
Round 10-16: Join yarn C to any dc, ch 2, hdc in each st around, join to beginning ch-2, fasten off C. — 50 hdc
Round 17: Join yarn D to any hdc, ch 2, hdc in each st around, join to beginning ch-2. — 50 hdc
Round 18: Ch 1, reverse sc in each st around, join to beginning ch-1, fasten off. — 50 reverse sc stitches

Finishing
Weave in ends, sew on patch


Men’s Beanie
Instructions:
With A, make magic ring.

Round 4: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 2 st; repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2. — 40 hdc
Round 5: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 3 st; repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2. — 50 hdc
Round 6: Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 4 st; repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2. — 60 hdc
Round 7-9: Ch 3, dc in each st around, join to beginning ch-3. — 60 dc
Round 10: Join yarn B to any dc, ch 3, dc in each st around, join to beginning ch-3, fasten off B. — 60 dc
Round 11-17: Join yarn C to any dc, ch 2, hdc in each st around, join to beginning ch-2, fasten off C. — 60 hdc
Round 18: Join yarn D to any hdc, ch 2, hdc in each st around, join to beginning ch-2. — 60 hdc
Round 19: Ch 1, reverse sc in each st around, join to beginning ch-1, fasten off. — 60 reverse sc stitches

Finishing
Weave in ends, sew on patch

End Notes
To make the men's beanie larger add this additional round after round 6:
Ch 2, * 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 5 st; repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2.—70 hdc    
Continue with round 7 and a stitch count of 70 hdc.  You will end up with 20 rounds
Size: to fit 26” circumference
