Kaleidoscope Coaster

Yarn
Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK yarn (3.5 oz/201yds/100g per skein): 1 skein each #3662 sunflower (A), #3673 Lavender (B), #3672 Poppy (C), #3671 Azure (D), and #3670 Saville (E)

Materials
US Size G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Stitch Guide
ch(s) - chain(s), sc - single crochet, hdc - half double crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitch(es), back RS - right side,

Special Stitches
Spike dc- Yarn over, insert hook into stitch or space one or more rows below the next stitch and pull up a loop to the level of the current round, (yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook) 2 times.

Colors used for Pastel Coasters- #3668 Hot Pink, #3666 Shell Pink, #3673 Lavender, #3663 Soft Lime, and #3664 Wisteria

Instructions:
With A, make magic ring.

Round 1 (RS):  Ch 1 (does not counts as stitch) 12 sc in the circle, fasten off A. — 12 sc

Round 2: Join yarn B to any sc, ch 2 (counts as a hdc), hdc in the same space, ch 1, skip next st, * 2 hdc in the next stitch, ch 1; Repeat from * around, join to beginning ch-2, fasten off B.  — 12 hdc + 6 ch-1 sps

Round 3:  Join yarn C to any ch-1 sp, ch 2, spike dc in the sc in round 1, hdc ch 2, *( hdc, spike dc, hdc) in the next ch-2 sp , ch 2; Repeat form * around, join, fasten off C. — 12 hdc + 6 spike dc + 6 ch-2 sps.

Round 4:  Join yarn D to ch-2 sp, ch 3, spike dc in between the 2 dc from round 2, dc in same sp, ch 3, * (dc, spike dc, dc) in the next ch-2 sp, ch3; repeat from * around, join, fasten off D.— 12 dc + 6 spike dc + 6 ch-2 sps.

Round 5:  Join yarn E to any ch-3 sp, (ch 3, dc, spike dc into the center dc of the 3 dc group from round 3, 2dc) in the same sp as join, ch 3, *(2 dc, spike dc, 2 dc) in the next ch-3 sp, ch 3; Repeat from * around, join, fasten off E. — 24 dc + 6 spike dc + 6 ch-3 sps.

Round 6: Join yarn B to the 1st dc in the 5 dc group from round 5, Ch 3, dc in the next 4 sts, * ch 4, dc in the next 5 sts; Repeat from * around, join, fasten off B. — 30 dc + 6 ch-4 sps.

Round 7: Join yarn D to the 1st dc in the 5 dc group, ch 2, hdc in the next 4 sts, ch 2, spike dc in the center dc of the 3 dc group from round 4, ch 2, * hdc, in the next 5 sts, ch 2, spike dc, ch 2; Repeat from * around, join, fasten off, weave in ends. — 30 hdc + 12 ch-2 sps + 6 spike dc
