Star Patterns

Yarn:
Cotton DK yarn

Materials:
US Size F/ 5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors

Difficulty:
Easy

Stitch Guide:
ch(s) –chain(s), sl st – slip stitch, sc – single crochet, dc – double crochet,  hdc - Half double crochet, st(s) – stitch(es), tr – trible crochet

Gauge:
18 sc and 21 rows = 4”

Notes:
The ch-1 at the beginning of the row counts as a stitch.
The ch-3 at the beginning of the row counts as a stitch.

Simple Star
Finished Size: 3 ½ inches (8.89 cm)      

Instructions:
Start with a magic circle
Rd 1: Ch1, 9 sc in the ring, join to beginning ch 1. (10 sc)
Rd 2: Ch 1, sc in the same space, 2 sc in each st around, join to beginning ch 1 (20 sc)
Rd 3: * ch 6, sl st in the second ch from hook, hdc in the next chain, dc in the next 2 chains, tr in the next ch, skip 3 sts, ss in the next st, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 6, finish off, weave in ends. (5 tr, 10 dc, 5 hdc, 5 sl sts)


Granny Star
Finished Size:  2 ¼ inches (5.7 cm)

Instructions:
Start with a magic circle                  

Rd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 3, *3 dc in ring ch 3; repeat from * around 4 times, join to beginning ch 3. (15 dc, 5 ch-3 spaces)
Rd 2: Sc in the next st  (sc, hdc, ch 2, hdc, sc) in the next ch-3 space, *sc in the center dc of 3 dc group, (sc, hdc, ch 2, hdc, sc)  in the next ch-3 space; Repeat from * around, join in beginning sc, finish off, weave in ends.  (15 sc, 10 hdc, 5 ch-2 spaces)


Star Flower
Finished Size: 2 ¾ inches (7 cm)

Instructions:                                                        
Start with a magic circle
Rd 1:  Ch 3, 9 dc in the ring, join to beginning ch-3. (10 dc)
Rd 2:  * 2 sc in the space between the next 2 sts; Repeat from * around. (20 sc)
Rd 3: *(sl st, hdc) in the same st as join, (dc, tr, ch 1) in the next st, (tr, dc) in the next st, (hdc, sl st) in the next st; repeat from * around, join to beginning hdc, finish off, weave in ends. (10 sl sts, 10 hdc, 10 dc, 10 tr, 5 ch-1 sps
